Artist’s Story

Michele Goyns is a jewellery artist based in North Vancouver whose work is rooted in a love of creating with her hands. Inspired by the process of transforming raw materials into something beautiful, thought-provoking, or simply fun, Michele approaches each piece with curiosity and a commitment to craftsmanship.

A lifelong learner, Michele is constantly exploring new art forms and expanding her creative practice. After experimenting with many mediums over the years, she discovered her true passion in metalsmithing, with a particular focus on jewellery. Her work continues to evolve, with each new collection reflecting a desire to challenge herself and push the boundaries of her craft.

This dedication to growth led her to the Jewellery Art and Design Diploma Program at Vancouver Community College, where she is currently completing her final semester. Following graduation, Michele plans to further establish her jewellery practice while continuing to refine her skills and experiment with non-traditional materials and techniques.

When she’s not in the James Jewellery studio, Michele finds inspiration in the mountains and forests surrounding her North Vancouver home, often exploring the trails on her mountain bike or hiking with her dog, Sonny.
